Sub Inspector formed a team on Dream11 and won Rs 1.5 Crore, was just happy but got trapped
Mumbai: Sub Inspector Somnath Jende, posted in Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate, Maharashtra, has won Rs 1.5 crore by forming a team on the online fantasy sports platform Dream 11 app. However, the joy of winning nearly Rs 1.5 crore was diminished when a notice was issued to Sub Inspector Somnath by the police department and a report was summoned from him. An investigation is now being conducted against Sub Inspector Somnath to see whether he followed the rules of playing lottery while on police duty.
If media reports are to be believed, Sub Inspector Somnath had started building the team on Dream11 only 2-3 months ago. During the ongoing World Cup in India, he made his team on Dream 11 for the Bangladesh vs England cricket match. His selection of players was so successful that he won the game and got a prize of around Rs 1.5 crore from Dream11. Let us tell you that teams are formed on Dream11 app and the winner gets a reward.
At present, an internal inquiry has been ordered against the sub-inspector who won Rs 1.5 crore from Dream11. DCP Swapna Gore has been given the responsibility of this investigation. It is alleged that while on duty, Somnath had created the team on the Dream 11 app present in his mobile. If negligence is revealed in the investigation, action will be taken against them. Sub Inspector Somnath is a member of the Riot Control Police and is posted at Pimpri Chinchwad Police Headquarters.
