ICC World Cup 2023: The latest health update of India’s star opener Shubman Gill has increased the concern of Team India and the fans. Shubhman Gill, who is suffering from dengue, has been admitted to a hospital in Chennai due to low platelets. Shubman Gill has already been ruled out of the match against Afghanistan on Wednesday. Now there seems to be no possibility of Gill playing in the match against Pakistan on Saturday. In the absence of Gill, Ishan Kishan will be seen opening with Rohit Sharma.

Shubman Gill’s health update was released by BCCI on Tuesday. It was informed in the health update that Shubman Gill has not traveled to Delhi with the team and he will get his treatment while staying in Chennai. According to the latest information, on Tuesday evening, Shubman Gill’s platelets decreased and he was admitted to the hospital. At present Shubman Gill is admitted in the hospital of Chennai only.

Gill will remain in the team

Shubhman Gill’s dengue report came positive last week. After this, Gill was out of the match played between India and Australia on Sunday. It was expected that Gill would be fit for the match to be played against Pakistan on Saturday. But now there does not seem to be any possibility for this. It takes at least two weeks to recover from a disease like dengue. In such a situation, Gill will be able to return to practice only at the beginning of next week.

However, BCCI will not announce Gill’s replacement and he will remain a part of the team in the World Cup. Gill is India’s highest run-scorer in ODIs this year. Once fully fit, Gill can prove to be the biggest game changer for India in the World Cup.
