Sam Fender has had to stop the Leeds Music Festival due to medical emergencies
London Aug 27: Sam Fender, the famous English indie and alternative rock star, has had to cancel his Leeds Music Festival several times due to medical emergencies in the crowd.
Asking the crowd to calm down, the 29-year-old singer stopped his set on the evening of August 26, as a fan required medical assistance in the crowd, telling the packed audience: “We need some help here, let’s stop.”
He went on to ask: “Are you okay? We need help here – we have to calm down,” Mirror.co.uk reported.
A source added to The Mirror: “We’re not sure what happened but Sam acted very quickly and made sure nothing happened until paramedics and security pulled the fan out from the crowd.”
The incident happened after the award-winning singer-songwriter performed “Spice” to a sea of elated fans who were hanging on his every word in Yorkshire. “Well, we’ve got wicked songs (songs) on the way now,” Sam continued telling the crowd after singing a few of his own anthems.
Later on the set of Sam, hit maker Seventeen Going Under, who performed in Reading at Leeds Festival’s sister event last night, checks in on his fans in the audience again, telling them: “Does someone need to come out? Can you please Do it? A way to get them out.”
In another incident, Sam asked, “Yeah, get help? Does somebody need to get in there? What’s the madness? We need to clear the way.” The screens then went out with the Newcastle native returning shortly afterwards to continue his set.
“I just left the Sam Fender audience after 3 songs because I felt like I couldn’t breathe and started crying,” one Leed Festival attendee wrote on X, and another excited fan added: “#lookoutforeachother on Sam Fender’s Fender.”
At the time of announcing his kit, he wrote: “Thankfully because of this lad whose name I can’t remember I didn’t perish in flames. Little did he know he just saved Reading and Leeds 2023 titles. Look you’re up front.”
