Pimpri (Pune); Leading News Service: The role of the municipal administration was to regularize the unauthorized rooftop hotels in the city. Due to criticism, the municipal corporation has now started taking action. In the last four days, the encroachment removal department of the Municipal Corporation has taken action against 9 rooftop hotels in various areas.
There are a large number of rooftop hotels in the city in the areas of Wakad, Pimpale Gurav, Pimpale Saudagar, Chinchwad, Nigdi, Spine Road, Bhosari, Akurdi. These hotels are run on the roof of the building. In a survey conducted by the municipal fire department a few months ago, 48 rooftop hotels were found in the city. The fire department issued a notice to the hotel as there was no fire fighting system. After that some hotels were closed. However, some hoteliers did not respond to the notice. Therefore, the Municipal Corporation has now started action against such hotels.
Meanwhile, the city is estimated to have around 100 rooftop hotels. Action has been taken against a total of 9 rooftop hotels including 7 in Wakad, Vishalnagar and Pimple Saudagar by the team of the D Regional Office of the Encroachment Removal Department and two in Thergaon area by the C Regional Office team. The municipal administration has clarified that action will be taken against all dangerous and unauthorized rooftop hotels in the city.
All unauthorized rooftop hotels will be demolished
According to the order of Commissioner Shekhar Singh, action has been taken against the rooftop hotel that was constructed illegally in the city. So far action has been taken against 9 unauthorized hotels. Action will be taken against all rooftop hotels in the city that do not have permission, said Vijaykumar Sarnaik, Assistant Commissioner of the Municipal Corporation.
