New Delhi, August 26: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday congratulated the Indian Blind Cricket Team for winning its historic first gold medal at the International Blind Sports Association (IBSA) World Games in Birmingham.

“Kudos to the Indian Women’s Blind Cricket Team for winning the gold medal at the IBSA World Games! A tremendous achievement that captures the indomitable spirit and talent of our female athletes. India radiates with pride!” Prime Minister Modi wrote in his tweet on Saturday.

The Indian women’s blind cricket team wrote history by claiming a gold medal after defeating Australia in the final in the rain on the back of their scintillating display.

India restricted Australia to 114/8 in 20 allotted overs and then chased the revised target of 42 in their fourth innings.

Women In Blue remained unbeaten, winning all their league matches as blind cricket made its debut at the IBSA World Games.
