Yangon, August 28: Myanmar police seized 6.6 kg of heroin worth more than 160 million kyats (about $76,100) in the country’s northern Kachin state, according to a statement from the Central Drug Abuse Control Commission (CCDAC).
The commission said on Sunday that the seizure took place in Mohnein town in the state on Friday.
It added that on Saturday, 182,000 stimulant tablets worth more than 72 million kyats (about $34,200) were seized in an operation carried out by the anti-drug police on a tip-off in Myanmar’s eastern Shan state.
According to the New China News Agency (Xinhua) that the police found the doping tablets while searching a motorcycle driven by a suspect in the state’s Mong Hsat town.
The commission said further investigations were under way into these cases.
