Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani topped the list of India’s 100 richest people of 2023 released by Forbes (Forbes Latest ‘India’s 100 Richest 2023)’ Ambani’s net worth increased by $4 billion to $92 billion compared to last year. After Jio Financial Services listed in a joint venture with BlackRock, Ambani strengthened his succession plan in August by appointing all three of his children as non-executive directors on the Reliance board.


Gautam Adani, chairman of Adani Group, is second in the Forbes list. Last year for the first time, he beat Ambani to become the richest person in the country. However, after the Hindenburg Research report in January, his group’s shares fell sharply. Since then, after a slight recovery, his net worth has fallen from $82 billion to $68 billion, the report said. Software tycoon Shiv Nadar climbed two places to third place with a net worth of $29.3 billion.


Savitri Jindal, matriarch of OP Jindal Group, is at the fourth position with $24 billion, a 46 percent increase in wealth. Rounding out the top five is Fifth Avenue Supermarts’ Radhakishen Damani, whose fortune has fallen to $23 billion from $27.6 billion a year earlier. Nazneen Karmali, Asia Wealth Editor and India Editor, Forbes Asia, said, ‘Bhar is growing and is being considered an attractive destination by global investors.’


According to the Forbes India Rich List 2023, Inder Jaisinghani, who earned the highest percentage this year, is at number 32 with $6.4 billion. His family’s net worth almost doubled as his wire and cable company Polycab India benefited from rapidly growing electrification. At the same time, pharma brothers Ramesh and Rajiv Juneja made a handsome profit of 64 percent from the listing of Mankind Pharma in May. After this he has come to number 29 with 6.9 billion dollars.
