Keanu Reeves, Jonah Hill’s Outcome Lands at Apple – The Hollywood Reporter


Jonah Hill, building a thriving movie career, and Keanu Reeves, held in high esteem thanks to the ultra-popular John Wick: Chapter 4team up for a dark Hollywood story.

Apple Original Films has been picked up Resulta dark comedy that Hill will direct and co-write with Ezra Woods.

Reeves is in negotiations to rival Hill for the position, which will also feature Hill.

Result stars Reeves as Reef, a damaged Hollywood star who must delve into the dark depths of his past to confront his demons and make amends after being blackmailed with a mysterious music video from his past.

Hill, clearly not an underachiever, will also produce Result with Matt Dines, his partner on their Strong Baby banner. The project will be an Apple Studios production.

The deal finds a home for it Result, which hit the city like a hot package in November. The project was picked up in a competitive situation, but the length of time it takes to close a deal shows how tight the current market is for high-priced packages, even those with high-end talent. Filmmakers, stars and their agencies are discovering that the buyers are pickier and stricter when it comes to buying.

It helps that Reeves is now enjoying a career highlight. Wick 4 opened to a $73.5 million franchise at the domestic box office and it is also one of Reeves’ best openings of his career. The film is now worth more than $247 million worldwide after just 12 days of release.

Result keeps Apple in the Hill business as it continues to stack its film portfolio with some of Hollywood’s biggest stars.

Hill and Apple Original Films are developing a Grateful Dead biopic with Martin Scorsese’s Sikelia Productions, which will be directed by Scorsese, starring Hill, and produced with Dines under Strong Baby.

Strong Baby recently produced the Netflix comedy You people with Hill, Julia Louis Dreyfus, Eddie Murphy and Lauren London. Hill, best known for his comedies and his Oscar-nominated role in Scorsese’s The Wolf of Wall Street, made his feature film directorial debut with the well-received 2018 coming-of-age drama Mid 90s. He followed that up with Stutzthe critically acclaimed 2022 documentary about mental health issues.

Apple, which became the first streamer to win a Best Picture for its drama last year, CODA, has two major entries debuting this year. Scorsese’s comes out in October Killers of the flower moon, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro, as well as newcomer Lily Gladstone. It comes out in November Napoleon, Ridley Scott’s historical epic starring Joaquin Phoenix. Both will get theatrical releases before they reach the Apple platform. Also in post is high concept romantic action adventure film Ghostedwith Chris Evans and Ana de Armas.

Hill and Strong Baby are represented by WME, LBI and Yorn Levine. Reeves is represented by WME, SUGAR23 and Ziffren.
