Srinagar, August 28: An official statement said that Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha on Monday handed over Sarvotam Jeevan Raksha Padak, the citation and the check to Ghulam Muhammad Dar, father of the civil martyr Muhammad Omar Dar, at Raj Bhawan.
Muhammad Umar Dar Sarvotam Jeevan Raksha Padak was bestowed (posthumously) by Chief Draupadi Mormo.
On 26 March 2022, Mohammad Omar Dar and his brother Ishfaq Ahmed Dar, who were working as Special Police Officer in Jammu and Kashmir Police, were killed by terrorists inside their home in Chattabug Budgam.
“The ruler paid tribute to Sheikh Muhammad Omar Dar and saluted the exemplary courage he showed in saving the lives of his family members,” the statement read.
“Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai, commander of 15th Corps, and family members of Muhammad Umar Dar were also present.”
