If you want to see the ‘game’ in Israel-Palestine dispute, then look at America.
On October 12, amid the Israel-Gaza War, news came that America had deployed the world’s most lethal aircraft carrier fleet to Israel. The fleet has been transferred with its strike group to the Eastern Mediterranean. American officials said that they have done this to ensure that Hezbollah and Iran do not take advantage of the war between Israel and Hamas.
On the same day – October 12 – US Secretary of State Antony Blinken also reached to meet Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Told them, “You are strong enough to defend yourself. But as long as America is there, you are never alone. We will always be by your side.”
This was seen as a strong message of solidarity with Israel. There is a well-known phrase among those who understand international relations – ‘Where there is trouble, there is Uncle Sam!’ This is a taunt against America because there is much evidence to date that America has had a hand in legacy disputes around the world.
Where is ‘Uncle Sam’ in the Israel-Palestine conflict?
America’s independent think-tank Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) has published a long report on America’s involvement in the Israel-Palestine conflict. According to the report, America has been a participant in the Israel-Palestine dispute for more than half a century. He has also been a host on some occasions.
Immediately after the Second World War, America, along with the United Kingdom, began recommending that Jews who survived the Holocaust in Europe move to Palestine. And this land will neither belong to the Jews nor to the Arabs. From then till today America is in the favor of Israel. America was also the first country to recognize Israel as a sovereign nation. And, dozens of times America has vetoed resolutions condemning Israel in the UN Security Council.

America also suffered losses due to its full support to Israel. Arab oil producers imposed heavy oil sanctions on America. On the other hand, Palestine started gaining legitimacy after the ‘6 Day War’ and ‘Gulf War’ in 1967. In 1974, the Arab League recognized the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) as the head organization of the Palestinian people.
America was true to the demands of the Palestinians from the beginning. In 1978, US President Jimmy Carter hosted the ‘Camp David’ peace talks between Israel and Egypt. What came out of this conversation pushed Middle East diplomacy in a direction in the future. And America has been the host of such talks on not one but many occasions. Even though America was kept out of the ‘Oslo Accord’ of 1993, the draft was signed in the White House. Under the Oslo Accords, Palestine recognized Israel’s existence and Israel recognized Palestinian autonomy in Gaza and the West Bank. That means the two-state solution found its way. The notion of Israeli and Palestinian states on the same land. The President then was Bill Clinton. Whoever’s government came after him, everyone promoted the two-state solution. Be it George W Bush’s ‘Road Map to Peace’, Secretary of State John Kerry’s ‘Six Principles’ or Trump’s ‘Peace to Prosperity’.

According to CFR’s review, the two-state solution has been the safest option for international diplomacy for decades: there would be a Palestinian state, including most of the West Bank and Gaza. However, most countries questioning this notion called for Israel to return to its pre-1967 borders. But no consensus has been reached on what, if this happens, what effect it will have on the Palestinians within those borders and the Israelis living beyond them.
Despite this, there has been direct US funding – two states. And, according to experts in international politics, America has a strategic objective in resolving this dispute. What is the purpose??

He also balances his partnership with Israel and advocates regional stability. However, America’s hand has become lighter in the last decade. The risks to America’s interests have increased since the Arab Spring of 2011. The ongoing wars in Syria and Yemen, Iran’s efforts to dominate the region and the rise of terrorist organizations like Al-Qaeda and Islamic State have become a problem for America.

Critics say that Trump’s controversial policies have limited the possibilities of a two-state solution. The Biden administration has done some damage control. The weather has changed a bit, but it will still take a few days for new leaves to appear on the branches of the trees.
