New Delhi, August 27: Former Australian opener Matthew Hayden has called up his Indian squad for the upcoming 2023 World Cup and has made some big calls. Hayden batsman added wicket-keeper Sanju Samson to the team and humiliated Kuldip Yadav and Yozvendra Chahal.

Speaking to Star Sports, Hayden said, “The job he hates the most is picking any team for the tournament. In the Indian context, I’d like to see Sanju Samson in the team. India also needs multiple bowlers more than batsmen, so Aksar Patel would be an option.” Better than Tilak Verma.”

The 15-member Indian team selected by Hayden is: Rohit Sharma (centre), Jasprit Bumrah, Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer, Sanju Samson, KL Rahul, Suryakumar Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, Hardik Pandya, Mohamed Shami, Mohamed Siraj, Shardul Thakur, Ishan Kishan and Aksar Patel.

India’s squad for the 2023 AFC Asian Cup was announced on 21 August 2023, and it featured some surprising names. Most anticipated was one of the exclusions of spinning magician Yusvendra Chahal.

KL Rahul wasn’t quite fit and was named to the team.

The decision to choose Kuldip over Chahal was influenced by the balance of the team. Axar doing well with both the bat and the ball will provide greater depth of strike. Kuldeep’s performance in the past years has been really impressive, in his last 9 ODI matches he has taken 18 wickets.

Samsun will travel as a reserve player in the Asian Cup. He is a potential replacement for KL Rahul who is fully recovering from injury.

The wicket-keeper did very well in last year’s IPL season and against Ireland, but he is yet to make it to the team.
