New Delhi, August 28: Veteran Congress leader Jairam Ramesh on Monday said that Prime Minister Rozgar Mela is nothing but a face-saving exercise for Narendra Modi, who has failed to deliver on his long-standing promise to create 2 crore jobs for the country’s unemployed youth every year.

Criticizing the Chief Minister, Ramesh, who is also the Congress General Secretary, posted on X, previously tweeted, “After failing to deliver on his grand promise of creating 2 crore jobs annually. After ruining the MSME sector by canceling trading, GST is designed Badly and sudden unplanned shutdown.”

“After betraying the hope of ambitious youth for more than nine years, the Chief Minister is feeling the pressure in an election year. To salvage his faltering image, he has come up with one of the biggest problems – Chief Minister Ruzgar Mela,” said Rajya Sabha MP.

Attacking the government, he said: “The posts are indeed prohibited positions and have not been filled for years for administrative or financial reasons. In a very large number of cases, letters of appointment are distributed by the prime minister even in cases of promotion.”

Mela allocates government sector employment as if the prime minister were individually responsible for mostly routine job offers.

He also said that job creation comes from economic growth driven by investments. “Prime Minister Rozgar Mela is a gimmick and further proof of her colossal ego, colossal ego, boundless self-obsession and refusal to accept responsibility for this dire disaster.”

“The unemployment situation,” said Ramesh, who is also the party’s communications officer.

The remarks by the Congress leader came after Prime Minister Modi on Monday distributed around 51,000 letters of appointment to new recruits in government departments and organisations, under the Ruzgar Mela.
