ABP Southern Rising Summit 2023: Tamil Nadu Minister And DMK Leader Udhayanidhi Stalin On Delimitation Commission
ABP Southern Rising Summit 2023: In ABP Network’s special program The Southern Rising Summit 2023, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin’s son and Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin has made a big claim regarding delimitation. He said that if delimitation happens in 2026, it will cause huge loss to the southern states.
Udhayanidhi Stalin, minister in the Tamil Nadu government, said, “In the 1970s, the central government launched programs to control the increasing population. We (southern states) implemented it well. Whereas other states did not do this. Today it is being used against the southern states. A conspiracy is being hatched to punish the southern states for doing good work through delimitation.
He said, “If delimitation happens without increasing the Lok Sabha seats, we will lose eight seats.” In such a situation, the 39 Lok Sabha seats of Tamil Nadu will reduce to 31. We are two years away from the delimitation process. In such a situation, if delimitation happens, the Lok Sabha seats of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana will be reduced. This is an attempt to suppress the voice of the southern states.
What did Udhayanidhi Stalin say?
DMK leader Udhayanidhi Stalin said, “Our CM (MK Stalin) has called delimitation a sword hanging over his head. I hope that the parties advocating states’ rights will oppose this. I guarantee you that DMK will be at the forefront in this.
He further said that in the 1960s, when an attempt was made to impose Hindi language by removing English from the official language, DMK had opposed it. Apart from this, Stalin targeted the Central Government and said that it sends the Governor to disrupt the work of the State Government.
